Early yesterday morning, a tragic incident occurred on I-80 near Willow Avenue when a gold Toyota Corolla crashed into a tree. The accident resulted in the death of a male passenger and seriously injured the female driver.
Arriving at around 12:44 am, first responders declared the passenger deceased at the scene, while the driver was taken to a local hospital with major injuries, according to a social media post by the CHP Contra Costa.
The driver, whose name has not been released, is expected to recover from her injuries. CHP Contra Costa is contacting the public for any information related to the incident. Witnesses or individuals with relevant details are encouraged to step forward and contact the CHP office in Martinez at (925) 646-4980 to aid in the ongoing investigation.
