Today, an early morning crash involving a tractor-trailer has resulted in a fatality and prompted the closure of Interstate 95 in Harford County. The accident, around 7 a.m. near the Riverside Parkway exit, caused a significant fire, leading to a shutdown of all northbound lanes on one of the nation's busiest highways. According to WBALTV, Harford County fire officials are at the scene where firefighters had to quickly deploy foam with the help of a tanker truck to manage the blaze.
As crews work at the site, traffic is at a standstill, causing delays for several hours. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes, like U.S. Route 40, to avoid the area. In a statement detailed by NottinghamMD, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to a lack of fire hydrants near the highway, a water tanker was specifically dispatched to assist with firefighting efforts.
