The community of Frankenmuth is grappling with a somber discovery as authorities have confirmed the death of 72-year-old Michael Savard, reported earlier as missing. According to a release from the MLive, Savard's body was located yesterday near the Cass River south of East Tuscola Road in Tuscola County after he was reported missing the previous day.
Frankenmuth Police were notified around noon on Saturday about a vehicle that seemed to quickly have been driven through a field off East Tuscola Road, landing beyond the county line. The vehicle was later identified as belonging to Savard, with the Tuscola County Sheriff's Department now leading the investigation into the incident, as reported by Midmichigannow.
According to WNEM, Savard was described as wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored shirt and was known to be driving a white 2023 GMC Sierra pickup truck, details that were crucial in the subsequent search.
Family members were worried about Savard's health, as he needed regular medical care, which made the search more urgent. The Tuscola County Sheriff's Department is still investigating what led to Savard's death.
