
A pedestrian was struck and killed in an early morning traffic collision in Fremont on Sunday, the Fremont Police Department reported. The incident, which occurred around 5:40 a.m. on Mission Boulevard near Mohave Drive, is the city’s twelfth fatal traffic collision this year. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the pedestrian down in the roadway, and despite medical efforts, the victim later died at a local hospital. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
The passenger vehicle driver was traveling westbound on Mission Boulevard when they collided with the pedestrian. According to the police investigation, the pedestrian was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident. The driver is said to have stayed on the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Drug or alcohol impairment has not been considered a factor in this tragic event.
Fremont's Traffic Investigations Unit has taken over the inquiry to determine the exact cause of the collision. According to the Fremont Police Department, in 2024, traffic-related fatalities occurred in various settings throughout Fremont, with six occurring on city roadways, four on state routes, and two on private property.
