The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken into custody a man from Wadley, Georgia, identified as Verdree Cunningham III, aged 34, on multiple drug-related charges. The charges encompass three counts of Cocaine Distribution, Use of a Communication Device to Commit a Felony, Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, and Trafficking Cocaine, as disclosed in a GBI press release.
Drawing the curtain on a 10-month investigation, last Friday, GBI operatives, together with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, made the arrest. They also proceeded to quickly execute a search warrant at Cunningham’s residence. The extensive search uncovered firearms, suspected narcotics including 84 grams of what appeared to be crack cocaine, close to 1.8 kilograms of suspected powder cocaine, and about 25 pounds of suspected marijuana stashed in a wooded area near the property.
This coordinated effort to bust Cunningham was a collaborative initiative involving the GBI Middle Georgia Gang Task Force (MGGTF), the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS), and other entities. The mission of the operation was not only to curb drug distribution but also to dismantle gang activities that are menacing Central Georgia. The overarching goal, as stated by the authorities, is to cultivate a safer environment where community members can thrive.
For those seeking to aid in the ongoing battle against drug and gang-related offenses, the GBI encourages citizens to step forward.
