The Germantown standoff that occurred on Sunday has been resolved without incident, resulting in the arrest of 49-year-old Marques Buford, who is now facing charges of false imprisonment after a tense situation unfolded outside an apartment complex.
Early on Sunday, police responded to a domestic incident call on the 12300 block of Silvergate Way, Montgomery County Police reported; that a woman informed authorities that her husband would not allow her to leave their home, and upon their arrival, officers met Buford armed with a butcher knife and wearing protective layers including a paintball mask that rendered less-lethal force ineffective.
An Emergency Response Team was called in to manage the unfolding crisis, involving a SWAT unit that was staged nearby to support the 5th District officers, who diligently worked to contain the situation and negotiate with Buford.
In a turn of events marked by tension and uncertainty, Buford attempted to flee but was swiftly taken into custody. Officers managed to apprehend him without causing harm to any of the involved parties, including the suspect himself. After his arrest, Buford was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and then transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. His detainment is being held without bond.
