The dream of instant wealth continues to entice many as the Mega Millions jackpot surges to an estimated $514 million, reported FOX 32 Chicago, with the next drawing set for 11:00 P.M. ET on Black Friday. This major jackpot increase follows a lack of winners from the previous drawing on November 26, when the numbers drawn were 5, 22, 24, 39, and 42, with a Mega Ball of 3.
In addition to the headline-grabbing grand prize no ticket matched every number but there were several other non-jackpot winners, including two $1 million winners in California and a $3 million winner in Louisiana, as per details from the same source. Lottery officials confirm the prize escalates from a hefty $489 million with hopes of someone landing the life-changing stash. It must be noted that this jackpot has been increasing since a ticket in Texas won $810 million in September, which still stands as the most recent grand prize victory.
With tickets priced at a mere $2 and the option to add the Megaplier for $1 more, this could potentially multiply the non-jackpot prizes for participants. However, according to an article from WGN-TV, players should brace themselves for changes as the price of Mega Millions tickets is set to hike to $5 from April 2025, which lottery officials claim will pave the way for larger payouts and increased chances of winning.
The staggering sum offers players a glimmer of hope imagining what they could do with the winnings albeit the odds of clinching the jackpot are daunting, 1 in 302,575,350 according to lottery officials, while the odds of winning any prize remain 1 in 24.
