A grim scene emerged at a Hamilton motel over the weekend as a woman was found dead, leading to murder charges against a local man. According to WCPO, Yolanda M. Wilson, aged 48, suffered fatal head injuries at Cove Motel on Dixie Highway. Marlowe Matthews, a 41-year-old from Hamilton, is accused of her murder.
Investigations reveal that both Matthews and Wilson were seen entering Room 140 of the motel last Friday evening, with Matthews departing after midnight, Local12 reported. No one else was observed entering or leaving the room until the police responded the following day. The Cove Motel's records listed the room as the home address for both individuals.
During his appearance in Hamilton Municipal Court earlier this week, Matthews was ordered to be held without bond. A public defender has been appointed for him, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 4. As he was escorted out of the courtroom, his family members supported him, urging him to "stay strong," as covered by WCPO.
The grim details of Wilson's injuries were described as "multiple visible blunt force trauma to the head," according to authorities, FOX19 reported. Following an examination by paramedics, upon their arrival at the scene at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Wilson was pronounced deceased. The Butler County Coroner's Office has since classified her death as a homicide.
