
A Honolulu Police Department bike officer is currently in serious condition following a significant crash in the Kapolei area. As reported by KHON2, the accident happened yesterday afternoon and involved the bike officer being struck by a vehicle while riding in the shoulder lane of Farrington Highway, near Laaloa Street.
The bike officer, who was heading westbound at the time, was hit by a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old motorist, who was pulling off the roadway. In the wake of the collision, the officer was projected onto the roadway, resulting in serious injuries. Meanwhile, the elderly driver and the two juveniles aboard the car escaped the incident unscathed.
Following the incident, the bike officer received immediate medical attention and was taken to the hospital. Due to the seriousness of the officer's condition, the HPD has initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, seeking to understand the precise chain of events that led to this unfortunate incident.
