On Halloween night, a 2019 Jeep Cherokee sustained a single-vehicle accident on Loop 375 West, near mile marker 20, causing damage to a portion of the roadway's center cable barrier system. According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, the incident took place at approximately 9:16 PM and created substantial disruptions, leading to a partial road closure.
The Jeep Cherokee reportedly wreaked havoc across 400-500 feet of the barrier before coming to rest in the right lane. No injuries were reported, yet the debris strewn across the highway necessitated intervention from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and prompted law enforcement to restrict traffic flow to a single lane. The clean-up efforts unfolded into the early hours of November 1st, temporarily adding to the complications for commuters and revelers alike.
Teaming up, the El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies and the El Paso Police Department officers managed to clear the lanes of the Jeep and the resultant debris, working diligently into the night. By 12:34 AM, their efforts saw fruition as both lanes of Loop 375 West were reopened, restoring the thoroughfare to its full capacity for the city's transport arteries.
