JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc., the company formerly known as JX Nippon Mining & Metals USA, Inc., has raised the curtain on its new Mesa-based manufacturing center, a key move in bolstering its production capabilities to supply in-demand sputtering targets for the semiconductor industry in both the U.S. and Europe. According to the City of Mesa, the grand opening of this 273,000-square-foot manufacturing plant was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony with commentary from JX representatives and Arizona officials. This Mesa facility, with its test production already set in motion, is anticipated to scale up its operations for a full production start in early 2025.
Revealed amongst speeches at the celebratory event, Mr. Takeshi Suwabe, the Executive Officer and General Manager of the Thin Film Materials Division of JX Advanced Metals Corporation noted, "Todays opening marks an exciting milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc. as we extend our commitment to Mesa and the advanced materials industry," as stated by the City of Mesa.
Furthermore, the plant is noted for its advanced technology areas, and inclusion of employee-centric amenities like solar panel covered parking, a workout center, and a garden area, Mesa Mayor John Giles praised the company's choice for Mesa as their base, remarking the city's status as a hub for innovation and advocating for the new facility's positive economic impact and Mesa Councilmember Scott Somers added, "This facility is a testament to our renewed focus on bringing high-value manufacturing jobs to the Mesa Gateway Area," as per the City of Mesa.
The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) also lauded the opening, with its President and CEO, Sandra Watson declaring, "We are excited to celebrate this milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA in Arizona," the City of Mesa noted. The decision to anchor JX Advanced Metals Corporation's operations in Mesa was influenced by Arizona's supportive business environment, skill-rich workforce, and semiconductor-suitable infrastructure—aspects that collectively propounded Mesa as the strategic selection for the company’s expansion.
