Early Saturday morning, a Knoxville home in the West View neighborhood was destroyed in a fire caused by a space heater. The Knoxville Fire Department received a call at 5:52 a.m. reporting a blaze in the 3300 block of Keith Avenue, as reported by WATE. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames engulfing the residence. Despite their efforts, the home was deemed a total loss.
Amid the dismay, fortuitously, no individuals were harmed. The residence was occupied by two males and a female, who were all unscathed in the calamity. Nevertheless, KFD detailed a critical absence that may have forestalled the catastrophe—there were no working smoke alarms in the house, in a statement obtained by WBIR. This oversight underscores an all-too-common neglect that too frequently converges with tragedy.
