The Knoxville Police Department has announced the arrest of a 15-year-old suspect in relation to a shooting incident on Asheville Highway. According to WVLT, the teenager, Kendall Ridgeway, was apprehended at a home on Riverside Drive on Saturday, following a response to a reported shooting at the Kwik Pantry on September 13th, where officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Further information obtained by WVLT indicates that the shooting occurred at around 7:45 p.m., and the injured man was subsequently transported to UT Medical Center for treatment. The involvement of two male suspects was suspected at the scene, implying that the altercation was not a random act, but one possibly born of an existing conflict.
As reported by WATE, Ridgeway was wanted on a juvenile petition for attempted first-degree murder among other charges. The Knoxville Police Department's Community Engagement Response Team was integral in locating and capturing the suspect, culminating with the apprehension at the Riverside Drive residence.
