
In the early hours in Battle Creek, a residential fire broke out. The local fire department quickly responded and rescued a dog from the blaze. The incident was reported by the Battle Creek Fire Department and took place on Grand Boulevard near Territorial Road East just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, according to WWMT News.
Firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene after receiving the emergency call. The homeowner, who was already safely outside when crews arrived, informed them that the fire was located in a second-floor bedroom and expressed concern for his dog still inside the house. Firefighters managed to quickly locate and to successfully rescue the pet. WOODTV reported that the fire was efficiently brought under control and contained to the second floor.
The Battle Creek Fire Department believes that the fire started due to unattended candles. In an early estimate, the department considers there to be approximately $15,000 in property damage, as WWMT News noted.
According to coverage by WZZM13, there were no reported injuries, either human or animal, following the incident.
