A disturbing early morning disruption turned violent in Lower Burrell when a man allegedly fired a gun through his apartment wall at his neighbors, based on charges reported by local authorities. Khalil Shawn Pryor, the 23-year-old suspected shooter, now faces a string of charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure.
According to a WPXI report, officers were called to an Arnold Avenue apartment complex just before 1 a.m. last Saturday, where they discovered that Pryor had previously engaged in a heated argument with the adjacent residents. These adversarial engagements escalated to a point where Pryor allegedly shot at them through their shared wall. After banging the door and commanding them to come out, they refused. He returned to his apartment and proceeded with his aggressive behavior.
In a horrifying turn of events, the man inside was sitting in the bathroom when he heard a gunshot. The bullet went through the shower wall, over his head, and into the medicine cabinet, as detailed by the criminal complaint reported by TribLIVE. Detectives later assessed that the bullet had passed approximately one foot from making lethal contact with the victim's head.
Before being taken into custody, according to WPXI, Pryor reportedly expressed his exasperation to police officers by saying, "I’m tired of hearing them every night," indicating annoyance at the neighbor's nocturnal disturbances. Evidence of the shooting was found not only in the traumatized neighbor's wall but also in Pryor's apartment, where police located several marks on the drywall that indicated a pistol had been pushed hard against it. They found as well two holes.
Now incarcerated, with his bail set at $250,000, Pryor awaits a preliminary hearing before District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec on December 3.
