
A man was shot and killed in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood of Chicago late Saturday night, an incident currently under investigation by local authorities. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident occurred in the 6700 block of South Prairie Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. The man, whose identity has not yet been released, suffered three gunshot wounds to the head.
Responding to the emergency, Chicago firefighters were quickly assisted in transporting the man to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A witness recounted hearing the gunshots to police, only to then find the victim severely injured. This information was provided by ABC7 Chicago in their report of the fatal event.
Currently, no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is being handled by Area One detectives. As of now, details about the victim's background and the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain scarce.
