A manhunt is underway in Atlanta after a suspect fired on police during a SWAT situation at the Avana Westside Apartments last Saturday night. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that the confrontation began around 10:22 p.m. when officers were called to the scene for a domestic violence incident and were met with gunfire from the male suspect.

Police successfully extracted a female from the vicinity of the altercation unharmed. A perimeter was swiftly established, and the police's SWAT team was summoned. Nonetheless, by the time the specialized team made their entry, the perpetrator had vanished from the apartment.

Jasmine Harris, a resident of the apartment complex, told FOX 5 Atlanta, "I heard several shots go off. Then, there was like a pause, and it was like more shots." Harris added that she and others were told to evacuate, and she quickly left with her daughter and dog in the direction of Atlanta police.

No injuries have been reported following the incident, and the suspect's identity remains unknown as the search continues. Avana Westside management reassured residents in a letter: "We understand this situation may be concerning, and we appreciate your cooperation and patience during this time," as per the 11Alive report.

The Atlanta authorities are urging anyone with information relevant to the case to come forward and contact the Atlanta Police Department to assist in the apprehension of the wanted man.
