A Maricopa County teenager has been handed a lengthy sentence for a crime rooted in deception and violence. Guillermo Amador III, now 19, was sentenced to 31 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated assault charges, in connection with a drug robbery gone tragically wrong. Maricopa County Attorney's Office announced the sentencing.
According to the official statement from County Attorney Rachel Mitchell, Amador used a fake Instagram account to lure Dallas Massaro to an isolated spot on December 5, 2022, under the pretense of a marijuana and THC vape sale. It was meant to be a simple exchange, but it quickly escalated into a fatal confrontation. After negotiating with Massaro, Amador unexpectedly fired his weapon, killing Emilie Gomez and gravely wounding Dallas Massaro, only to subsequently flee with a bag of drugs. "This case is a clear example of the rise we have seen throughout our county where youth are participating in extreme acts of violence," a statement obtained by the Maricopa County.
The charges, to which Amador pleaded guilty, include one count of second-degree murder with a dangerous classification, a Class One Felony, and one count of aggravated assault, also with a dangerous tag, classified as a Class Three Felony. The gravity of these charges reflects the severity of Amador's actions on that fateful day, actions that have irrevocably changed the lives of the victims' families.
Now bound to spend three decades behind bars, Amador's sentencing casts a long shadow on the narrative of youth delinquency and violence. According to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, "At the time of this murder, the defendant was 17 years-old, and for this horrific crime, he will spend decades in prison" Mitchell stated
