Marion County residents planning their holiday activities should be aware of the seasonal closures affecting local services. As announced by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners, a schedule of closures will impact county administrative offices, libraries, and various other facilities during the Thanksgiving holiday period. Timing your errands or leisure outings will need careful consideration to avoid any inconvenience.
On Thanksgiving Day, yesterday, county entities such as administrative offices, libraries, Solid Waste facilities (including the Baseline Transfer Station and recycling centers), and park and recreation facilities were closed in observance of the holiday. These closures will also extend today. According to an announcement on Marion County's official website, Solid Waste facilities are scheduled to resume their regular operations tomorrow at 7 a.m.
The holiday pause strikes a brief respite in the usual hustle of county business, allowing employees and constituents alike to partake in the communal reprieve. For those eager to jump back into recreational activities or to return library books that have been well-thumbed over the break, tomorrow marks the return to normality with park and recreation facilities opening at sunrise and libraries at 10 a.m.
By the time Monday, Dec. 2 rolls around, a semblance of pre-holiday normalcy will resume across the county—with all offices, services, and facilities operating on their standard hours once again. Residents in need of animal control services, however, can breathe easy knowing that assistance is available round-the-clock even during the holiday. Animal Control can be contacted at any time at 352-671-8727 or 352-732-9111. And, as is the case at all times, Fire Rescue and Emergency Communications Center personnel will remain reachable for emergencies via 911, ensuring public safety is maintained throughout the festive period.
