A 13-year-old girl reported missing from Wesley Chapel late Friday night has been found safe, according to an update from law enforcement early Saturday. Amiyah Johnson was last seen around 7:45 p.m. in the 29900 block of State Road 56, wearing a green sweatshirt, black yoga pants and a sock, before deputies classified her as a missing and endangered youth and asked the public for help finding her.
The search began after the Pasco Sheriff posted an alert describing Johnson as 5 feet 6 inches tall, around 100 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. Just hours later, as reported by Tampa Free Press, the Pasco Sheriff's Office confirmed Johnson had been located safe. The outlet's report did not specify further details about the circumstances of her recovery.
Under Florida law, any missing minor under 18 is automatically classified as a “missing endangered person,” a designation that triggers specialized law enforcement protocols regardless of whether foul play is suspected, per the Florida Legislature. That classification also means there's no mandatory waiting period before a report can be filed, allowing agencies to move immediately once a child is reported missing, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
