A woman was reported to be holding a pistol at two men playing golf at Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds on Wednesday afternoon. According to the Barnstable Police Department on their Facebook page, the police responded to the incident, which disrupted the game.
The situation unfolded when a woman emerged from the treeline and accused the golfers of trespassing on her property. The golfers explained they were on the fairgrounds, but the woman continued to escalate the matter, holding what appeared to be a weapon. The golfers contacted the authorities, and police soon arrived at the scene on Race Lane, as reported by the Barnstable Police Department.
Police officers located and detained 39-year-old Chrystal Lawson of Marstons Mills without incident after surrounding her residence. A search of her home uncovered two rubber guns and a replica pistol magazine, indicating the weapons were non-lethal. Lawson is now facing two counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, specifically a firearm. She was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled for arraignment in Barnstable District Court on Friday, as stated by the Barnstable Police Department.
