The app, as described by Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority General Manager Phil Eng, provides users with real-time information "in the palm of your hand," including arrival times, the locations of buses and trains, and any service disruptions, according to a report by Boston.com.
As anticipation builds, Android users can expect to get their hands on the app come February of next year, and this expansion is viewed as another step toward a fully integrated transit network facilitated by digital technology, Eng also noted the importance of the app in helping both tourists and locals alike navigate the public transportation system more comfortably, as it readily displays service alternatives during planned outages and where shuttle buses are available, this point was echoed by Transportation Secretary Monica Tibbits-Nutt, who advocates for the empowering effect this knowledge can have on riders' decisions and travel efficiency, with details reported by Boston.com.
Language inclusivity is clearly a cornerstone of the "MBTA Go" experience; the app supports several languages such as Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, and Vietnamese to cater to Boston's diverse population, "MBTA Go" features an interactive map that reveals transfer options and available services at all T stops, which was beta-tested by over 4,000 riders since July, the information is attributed to the app's press release featured in Boston.com's coverage, as per WCVB.
