The Medford Police Department has confirmed that it is investigating a series of gunshots that were heard in the early morning hours yesterday. Officials reported that, despite the discharge of a firearm, there appear to be no victims, and no one has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
According to reports, at approximately 1 a.m., officers on routine patrol heard about eight gunshots near 364 Boston Avenue. Medford Police, along with the Massachusetts State Police and Tufts University Police Department, responded promptly and began gathering details from the scene. A firearm and several shell casings were recovered, as noted by the Medford Police Department. While no injuries have been reported, the investigation is ongoing.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a suspect running toward Bellevue Avenue after the shots were fired. The Medford Police Department is working to identify and apprehend those involved, stating that there is no belief in an "active and ongoing threat" at this time.
