The Memphis Police Department is currently on the lookout for a man implicated in an altercation at a Pizza Hut on Macon Road. Last Friday, the suspect, allegedly attempting to impersonate a DoorDash driver, got into a physical confrontation with a Pizza Hut employee after she denied him an order that he couldn't prove was his to collect, according to Action News 5.
When the employee refused to comply, police say the man became aggressive, knocking items off the counter, one of which struck the employee. The situation escalated further when he reportedly jumped over the counter and chased her to the back of the store, seemingly attempting to continue the assault, according to a Facebook post by Memphis Police Department. He fled the scene before authorities arrived.
WREG revealed that authorities have released a surveillance photo of the man they want for questioning in relation to the incident classified as simple assault. The Memphis Police Department is urging anyone with knowledge of the suspect or the event to step forward with information.
DoorDash, the delivery platform the suspect claimed to be working for, maintains a policy requiring drivers to present a valid government-issued ID to apply, ensuring accountability and safety standards. In a collective effort to bring the perpetrator to justice and ensure the safety of employees and customers alike, anyone capable of identifying the suspect is strongly encouraged to directly call the Appling Farms General Investigation Bureau at 901-636-4402, as stated by Memphis Police Department.
