A Thanksgiving Day gathering in Memphis turned violent when a grandmother attacked two of her family members with a knife, authorities say. The Memphis Police Department reported that officers were called to the scene of an aggravated assault in the 200 block of Delta Road. According to Action News 5, the incident left two individuals injured after an altercation spiraled out of control.
The dispute began with a verbal confrontation about the grandmother pushing her grandson, as told by the victim to the police. During their argument, the suspect grabbed a knife from the kitchen and charged the victim, resulting in abrasions to her left hand. As the grandmother, who was possibly heavily intoxicated, was taken into custody, she stabbed her grandson near his thumb on the left hand, wearing a red wig as she fled from the scene, WREG reports.
The suspect was apprehended shortly after she had left on foot, with police locating her at a home on Cazassa – several miles from the scene of the crime. Following the assault, she was booked into jail. FOX13 Memphis added that the suspect was brought to Jail East without further incident.
