A series of shootings on Thursday left Milwaukee dealing with violence, with the community seeking answers. One of the shootings happened near Marquette University at 8:38 p.m. at 20th and Kilbourn. A man, not connected to the university, was injured but his injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Both the Marquette University Police Department and Milwaukee Police Department responded quickly, according to CBS 58.
While details surrounding the shooting near the campus are still under investigation, and Marquette University Police Department has indicated multiple potential suspects, no suspect information or custody status has been released yet, as the whole city saw a spate of gun violence The Milwaukee Police Department is currently leading the investigation the same evening which left another person dead and several wounded in separate incidents at 45th and Wright, Houston and Congress, and an unspecified location the Milwaukee Police Department are also conducting investigations into these events and have not yet disclosed any suspects, according to statements obtained by FOX6 News.
Within less than two hours, several shootings occurred: a 52-year-old was injured at 45th and Wright, a 20-year-old was shot at an unknown location, and at Houston and Congress, two people were shot. One of the victims, a 25-year-old, died, while a 23-year-old suffered serious injuries, as per FOX6 News. The community is feeling uneasy as these shootings raise concerns about public safety. The victim near Marquette, whose name is not yet known, is expected to survive, according to WISN.
