Montgomery County is ramping up security measures in retail districts to prevent theft and maintain a safe shopping environment. The Montgomery County Department of Police has announced that all six of their police districts will enhance their presence in commercial areas, employing various tactics to keep an eye on potential retail theft.
According to a Montgomery County Police Department statement released, the public can expect to see an amalgam of uniformed patrol officers navigating through crowds on foot and bikes, and others in plain clothes blending with shoppers. Along with these on-the-ground measures, advanced technology such as camera systems and even drones, operating as the 'Drone as First Responder' program, will be utilized to bolster security from the skies. Each District Commander will be coordinating these efforts to ensure comprehensive coverage of their respective areas.
The presence of law enforcement, both visible to the public and those undetected, aims not only to protect retail locations but also to instill a sense of security for business owners, employees, and the patrons they serve. "We want everyone to feel safe as they shop and gather to enjoy the holidays," the Montgomery County Police Department stated, emphasizing the goal of generating a peaceful atmosphere amidst the bustle of seasonal commerce.
