In a clear shift in local government leadership, Montrose Mayor Kirby Moynagh has clinched the position of District 5 Wright County Commissioner, concluding a competitive race for a seat left open by Mike Kaczmarek's decision not to seek reelection. With all precincts having reported in, Moynagh garnered a commanding lead with 6,824 votes, accounting for 56.4 percent of the total votes cast, as detailed in a Wright County bulletin.

Opponent Bill Nibbe trailed behind, having secured 5,147 votes or 42.5 percent, leaving a small proportion of 138 write-ins to ponder what might have been. The results, indeed, underscore the residents' choice for a different vision for their community. Nevertheless, the vote tallies won't be set in stone until Minnesota's Secretary of State Office certifies them, a formality yet to be completed.

Moving to the District 2 Commissioner seat, the incumbent Darek Vetsch stood alone on the ballot and unsurprisingly swept the field. In an overwhelming show of support, or perhaps a lack of alternative options, Vetsch was endorsed by 10,290 voters, which translated to a staggering 98.9 percent of the vote with a token 114 write-ins scattering the remaining percentage, as per Wright County Minnesota.
