The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office has announced charges against a Mountain View barber, Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla, for sexually assaulting two men, a crime spree that included kidnapping. A manhunt is currently underway for Sarceno Orla, 34, who is believed by law enforcement to have assaulted many more victims based on disturbing evidence uncovered. Santa Clara County DA urges additional victims to come forward.

While escaping the authorities, Franklin Enrique Sarceno Orla may have committed a sexual assault upon at least 20 different passed-out or severely intoxicated men, some of which were caught on his own video recordings. The Mountain View Police Department, seeking more information on the fugitive's whereabouts and potential victims, encourages anyone suspicious of being victimized to contact them. According to the Santa Clara County DA, if convicted of these heinous charges, the suspect could face life in prison.

In July, the investigation by MVPD kicked off after a man reported waking injured and disoriented following drinks with Sarceno Orla. Forensic evidence backed the man's sexual assault claims. Another victim, who identified the suspect as his barber, similarly reported losing consciousness after sharing beers with him. The involvement of courageously coming forward of the victims has been pivotal in the police's effort to identify and charge Sarceno Orla. As noted by District Attorney Jeff Rosen, per the Santa Clara County DA, "There was a sexual predator in our community, and we thank the Mountain View Police Department for identifying him. With the help of courageous victims, investigators, and the public we will soon have him in custody to keep him from ever hurting anyone again."

After being arrested for sexual assault in late August 2024, Sarceno Orla posted the $250,000 bail and has since fled. In their ongoing investigation, Mountain View police have turned up more potential assaults dating back to 2018 or even earlier.
