Walt Disney World enthusiasts prepare for a nostalgia shake-up at Hollywood Studios as the entertainment juggernaut makes room for new experiences. In a move that's part rock 'n' roll, part digital shakeup, the "Muppets" characters are saying goodbye to their Muppet*Vision 3D classic and hopping on a new gig. They'll soon be the zany hosts of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, previously headlined by Aerosmith, in what seems to be a roller coaster of change.
According to a statement on the Disney Parks Blog, the switcheroo is slated to infuse the attraction with antics and musical riffs that can be described as uniquely Muppet. "We know so many of you share our love for The Muppets and know their energy will be a perfect fit for this coaster. Plus, as the first Disney ride ever to feature The Muppets, there’s sure to be laughter, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy throughout the adventure and plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard," the blog stated Friday morning, as reported WESH.
Disney has been vague on specifics, including a definitive timeline for these transformative endeavors. Nevertheless, the clock is ticking for those fans wishing to bid farewell to Steven Tyler's screams and Fozzie Bear's fuzzy face in their original attractions. "While Disney has not released details on when these changes will begin taking place," according to WESH, "the blog says there is still time to ride Aerosmith's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and catch a showing of Muppet*Vision 3D."
The shuffle is not just an upgrade but a strategic shuffle of the familiar deck of characters and rides, aiming to refresh the park with a dose of current-gen appeal. Meanwhile, WFTV reported Disney is promising "laughter, screams and new tunes" to ensure the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster keeps on rocking in a Muppets kind of way. Details of the revamp are teased to be released next year, so keep your mouse ears to the ground. For the moment, Hollywood Studios is gearing up for an interesting blend of nostalgia and novelty as it retools its belles of the ball.
