The City of Avondale is starting work on a new fire station, Fire Station #171, at 519 E. Western Avenue. This modern facility will help improve emergency services in the area. As reported by the City's information release, this new station will replace the old one at 101 S. 5th Street, with the goal of staying up-to-date with the latest fire-fighting and medical response technology.
The project officially began yesterday, with a target completion date of February 25, 2026. During the transition, the old fire station will continue to operate without interruption, ensuring that emergency services remain fully available. While Avondale's residents should stay aware of fire safety, they should also expect construction-related traffic delays. The area will see typical signs of building work: cones, signs, and slower traffic. Drivers are urged to slow down, drive carefully, and be mindful of their speed in these construction zones.
Since weather and other unforeseen factors can affect construction schedules, the city warns that timelines may change. Residents and commuters seeking more details can contact the City of Avondale Engineering Department at 623-333-4000 or visit the city’s official website for regular project updates.
