The New Orleans Police Department released its preliminary crime report for the week of November 3-9. The report includes the arrests of two individuals in connection with separate violent crimes and the seizure of weapons, as reported by the New Orleans Police Department.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, last Wednesday, the Violent Offender Warrant Squad, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals, arrested Michael Brooks in connection with an August shooting and home invasion. In St. Tammany Parish, Diamond Ebbs was arrested on suspicion of homicide related to an October incident. Both suspects are now awaiting legal proceedings for their alleged crimes.
In 2024, New Orleans has seen a 43% decrease in arrests for illegal firearm possession, with 371 arrests made so far, compared to the same period in 2023. The New Orleans Police Department has seized 1,888 firearms this year, a 21% drop from the 2,043 seized in 2023. These figures reflect ongoing efforts by the New Orleans Police Department and federal partners, like the U.S. Marshals, to address illegal firearms, though the numbers may be adjusted after further review.
