An explosion rocked a Plaistow, New Hampshire condo complex early Sunday, leaving residents without homes and officials scrambling to investigate the cause. The blast occurred at a 3-story, 12-unit complex on Westville Road, and emergency crews arrived on the scene shortly after 8 a.m., as per NECN. In the wake of the incident, occupants were forced to evacuate, but fortuitously, there were no injuries reported.
The Plaistow Fish and Game provided refuge, transforming their space into a shelter, while the American Red Cross stepped in to aid those dislocated by the explosion. According to details shared by NECN, the building suffered considerable structural damages. The investigation into the explosion's origin is underway, with authorities looking into an area between the first and second floors as the potential source of the blast.
Plaistow Fire Chief Chris Knutsen stated that the explosion did not result in a fire, adding an additional layer of fortune to the otherwise calamitous event. "The building has since been secured and utilities shut off pending an investigation by the New Hampshire Fire Marshal and the Plaistow Fire Department," he explained in a statement obtained by the Eagle Tribune.
Displaced residents, along with their pets, have been provided with temporary placements, facilitated by the town in conjunction with Animal Control Officers and a the American Red Cross. Fire officials and the Plaistow Fish & Game Club on May Ray Avenue are working closely to ensure that all impacted by this sudden disruption are offered the necessary support during this unforeseen adversity.
