
A shooting incident in La Vergne has led to one person being arrested and another in critical condition. The occurrence took place on Thursday afternoon around 3:10 p.m. in the 1700 block of Briarhill Court. WSMV reported that the La Vergne Police Department identified the victim as a 46-year-old man from La Vergne who is now fighting for his life after sustaining a single gunshot wound.
According to details released, a 51-year-old woman was detained on the scene, leading authorities not to actively seek any additional suspects in relation to the shooting. "There is no threat to the public, and people are asked to avoid the area while we continue our investigation," the La Vergne Police Department assured in a statement posted to their Facebook page and cited by both WKRN and the aforementioned WSMV report.
Police have kept the investigation active since the incident, seeking to unravel the sequence of events that precipitated the near-fatal encounter. However, detailed information about the motivation behind the shooting or the relationship between the suspect and the victim has not yet been publicly disclosed.
The arrested individual’s identity has been withheld thus far, with both city officials and the police department refraining from releasing additional particulars about the suspect.
