
A fatal shooting in New Orleans' French Quarter left one person dead and three others injured. The New Orleans Police Department responded to the incident at the intersection of Iberville and Royal streets around 12:21 p.m. on Thursday. The shooting occurred in the 700 block of Iberville Street, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers found four individuals with gunshot wounds, including three males and one female. They were taken to a local hospital by EMS. One of the male victims later died. A person of interest has been detained as part of the investigation. The New Orleans Police Department Eighth District officers are treating the incident as targeted, rather than a random shooting.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with the New Orleans Police Department's Violent Crime Abatement and Investigative Team and Louisiana State Police’s Troop NOLA reviewing leads. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identify the deceased.
