A drive-by shooting in Detroit's east side has left one man dead and two others injured, authorities said yesterday. The incident took place in the 15000 block of Mayfield Street near Hayes and Kelly Road, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit. The victims were sitting in a car outside a residence when assailants in two vehicles approached and opened fire. A 43-year-old man succumbed to the gunfire, while the other men, aged 60 and 21, sustained injuries; the older in critical condition and the younger in stable condition at the time of the report.

The Detroit Police Department has not yet provided any descriptions of the suspected vehicles involved in the shooting, however, Major Crimes Commander Rebecca McKay conveyed that they are conducting a thorough review of surveillance video from the area. "This is a very unfortunate situation," McKay stated. "That's what happens when guns get into the hands of people who shouldn't have guns," in a statement obtained by FOX 2 Detroit.

Authorities have not identified a motive for the shooting nor has it been determined whether the act was targeted or random, Audacy reports. The name of the deceased victim has yet to be released to the public.

Detroit Police and Crime Stoppers are seeking public assistance in the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the 1-800-SpeakUp hotline. This request aims to gather details that could help in the investigation of the shooting.
