Palo Alto Police seek a suspect following a report of a sexual assault that occurred last Monday near the city's downtown transit center. The perpetrator of this disturbing act is still at large after the incident, which was first reported to the Newark Police Department nearly a week later on Wednesday.
According to the Palo Alto Police Department News Release, a woman in her thirties was approached by a man while waiting for a bus around 7:30 p.m. The man asked for her assistance with translating a conversation, only to lead her to a secluded tree line where, revealing a knife clipped to his pants, he coerced her into compliance and sexually assaulted her.
In light of this attack, the Palo Alto Police Department has described the suspect as a slender black male in his thirties, seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black cargo pants, and a surgical-type mask at the time of the incident.
Police urge anyone with information about this traumatic incident to come forward. The official news release asks people with information about this incident to call its 24-hour dispatch center at (650) 329-2413.
