Perimeter Mall in Atlanta Introduces Paid Parking at Front Entrance to Ease CongestionSource: Google Street View

In a move aimed at addressing congestion issues, Perimeter Mall in the Atlanta area is set to roll out a paid parking system starting today. According to Atlanta News First, a segment of approximately 300 parking spaces located proximate to the mall's front entrance will now require payment at a rate of $2 per hour, capped at a maximum daily fee of $10.

To ease the shift for patrons accustomed to free parking, the new plan will allocate part of the proceeds to local charities. "Officials say this isn’t necessarily a permanent change or a temporary one, but something they are trying out for the time being to see how it goes," according to FOX 5 Atlanta. The mall, with over 7,000 parking spaces, will monitor how this change affects traffic and customer habits.

Brookfield Properties, the management company overseeing the mall, has pledged to donate $1 from each parking fee to Furkids, a local animal rescue organization, hence turning parking into an opportunity to support the welfare of animals in need.

Free parking will remain available for the remainder of the mall's capacity, amounting to around 6,700 spaces, for those opting to park farther from the main entrance.
