In an early morning operation executed by the U.S. Marshals, 20-year-old Reasieyon Lambert was apprehended in Philadelphia for a homicide that shook a West Oakland community last April. Lambert was wanted in connection to a chaotic episode that led to the death of 25-year-old Charles Zigler and the wounding of another, authorities confirmed. According to a report by the East Bay Times, the arrest brought a several-month-long manhunt to a close.
The incident, which occurred on the 1400 block of 7th Street in Oakland, reportedly began as a confrontation over a missing firearm and escalated into a series of assaults, culminating in Zigler's fatal shooting. Lambert, also an Oakland resident at the time, is accused of shooting Zigler after the latter, alongside a friend, allegedly struck Lambert's father with a garbage can. Surveillance footage and witnesses provided a narrative of the night's violent unraveling, further complicated when Lambert's father indicated to the officers that his son was likely the shooter, defending him out of fear.
Lambert, who faced additional charges for attempted murder and illegal gun possession, had been listed as a fugitive since October 16. Details on how he was tracked to Philadelphia have not been publicized. The U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia's social media post updated that Lambert was arrested at 10:30 am on the 2000 block of S. 65th St. and was under investigation by the USMS Pacific Southwest Regional Task Force since July.
