
The Plano community is mourning the loss of retired Police Officer David Tilley, who was pronounced dead on Tuesday. Tilley, known for his dedication and service, profoundly impacted both the police department and residents alike before retiring on February 26, 2022, after a noteworthy 24-year tenure with the department, according to the Plano Texas Police Department's official Facebook page.
In his long career, Tilley served the community in various capacities, most notably as a Public Information Officer—a role he stepped into with vigor for nearly 11 years. He not only spearheaded the department's Community Outreach initiatives but also laid the groundwork for its social media channels. These efforts significantly boosted public interaction and the department's transparency.
Chief Ed Drain expressed the collective sorrow of the department, stating, "David was not only a devoted husband and loving father but also a cherished friend and admirable officer with an unwavering commitment to his family and the community he served," a testament to Tilley's character and his professional legacy, his contribution to Plano's safety and well-being will not be forgotten.
