The National Weather Service in Portland has urged drivers and pedestrians to brace for challenging visibility, as a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM today, due to areas of fog where visibility will drop to a quarter mile or less in dense spots. According to the NWS Portland, the advisory spans across the South Washington and North and Central Oregon Coast, several valleys including the North and Central Coast Range Valleys of Oregon, and stretches into the Lower Columbia and Cowlitz River Valleys with the Central Willamette Valley and Tualatin Valley also affected.

Residents in other locations such as the Inner Portland Metro, Outer Southeast Portland Metro, and the Inner Vancouver Metro, will also encounter dense fog conditions, which are expected to cause disruptions in these areas. The advisory warns that "low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous" and this applies to the Willapa and Wahkiakum Lowlands, North Clark County Lowlands, which along with all the aforementioned regions, will be under the veil of dense fog until the late morning hours.

As fog conditions loom, an advisory offers practical safety tips, urging drivers to "slow down and leave plenty of distance ahead of you," on the roads. The warning comes ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, a time when travel is expected to surge. For those heading outdoors, visibility may be severely reduced, and cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to wear bright or reflective clothing to improve their chances of being seen in these challenging conditions, as detailed by the NWS advisory.

Looking ahead, the dense fog is set to linger throughout the week, with forecast data indicating patchy fog is likely to persist until Friday. This will be accompanied by mostly overcast skies and occasional showers, creating a consistent weather pattern. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain steady, with highs ranging from the mid to upper 40s, according to the recent forecast. Evening temperatures will dip to the mid-30s.
