
Residents in Anne Arundel County are on high alert after a raccoon tested positive for rabies. The Anne Arundel County Department of Health urgently seeks anyone who might have come into contact with the rabid animal on Tuesday in the 6500 block of Shadyside Road. According to WBAL-TV, the raccoon was discovered on Wednesday.
Officials are deeply concerned that this raccoon may have potentially come in to expose people or pets in the region. In response, the health department has issued a rabies warning and advises anyone whose pet has unexplained wounds or who knows they had contact with the raccoon to reach out immediately. Residents can contact the Anne Arundel County Department of Health at 410-222-7254 on weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. or after hours at 443-481-3140, as detailed by WMAR2 News.
