
A road rage incident in Soulard late last night escalated to violence, leaving a man critically injured. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reported that a 41-year-old man was shot in the neck following a heated exchange with another driver, according to their press release. The victim, who remains unnamed, provided a harrowing account of the altercation turned shooting to the authorities.
The incident took place around 11:20 p.m. on Gravois Avenue when the victim was driving eastbound. The confrontation began as a road rage incident with an individual driving a blue Honda Accord. The disagreement escalated, and both men stopped at the intersection of Gravois & Geyer, it was there that their argument intensified. The man from the Accord, after a heated verbal exchange, pulled out a gun and fired at the 41-year-old, hitting him in the neck, the injured man then drove himself home and notified the police.
Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the victim's residence and transported him to a local hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition. The SLMPD is now actively investigating the case, seeking the suspect who fled the scene and is currently at large.
