The holiday season is set to light up in Rockwall County with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. On December 6 at 6 pm, the community is invited to come together at the County Courthouse at 1111 E. Yellow Jacket Ln for an evening infused with festive music and holiday spirit. The event promises to be a showcase of local talent and a celebration of community.
The First Baptist Church choir and orchestra will be the centerpiece of the evening. Directed by Minister of Music Trent Blackley, the ensemble of 150 members will perform a range of traditional Christmas carols. Expect to hear renditions of classics such as "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," and "Silent Night" among others. A special arrangement of "What Did You Say Was the Baby's Name?" is also on the program, further adding to the festive atmosphere.
In addition to musical performances, Rance Rushing, Lead Pastor of Cornerstone Church, is set to deliver Scripture readings from the Book of Luke, recounting the birth of Christ. According to the Rockwall County website, these readings will tie together the evening's theme and provide moments of reflection amidst the joyful celebration.
Further adding to the musical assortment, handbell choirs from First Baptist and First Methodist of Rockwall will perform. Their contribution of handbell harmonies is sure to complement the evening's choral and orchestral pieces. After the lighting and performances wrap up, all attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments provided by the event organizers. This gesture of hospitality invites those present to linger a while, converse, and exchange seasons' greetings in true community fashion.
