Travelers and commuters in San Diego planning their Thanksgiving Day transit can expect changes to the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) services. According to an announcement by MTS, a Sunday schedule will be in effect tomorrow, for all Trolley lines and bus routes. It's important for riders to note that there will be no service on Rapid Express Routes 280 and 290, and Rural Routes 888, 891, and 894.

For those with plans in place the day before Thanksgiving, Rural Route 892 will not operate on the holiday, but will instead run today. The announcement also highlights that MTS Access subscription passengers looking to travel on Thanksgiving must call to arrange their transportation. Additionally, MTS is offering travelers heading to the airport the option to use Route 992 adjacent to Santa Fe Depot or the San Diego Airport Flyer from the Old Town Transit Center for direct connections.

Furthermore, the "Friends Ride Free" according to MTS, promotion will allow every fare-paying adult to bring one guest along at no extra cost on Thanksgiving. Youth passengers can also ride for free with a Youth PRONTO card/account through the Youth Opportunity Pass Program. MTS has directed passengers to find detailed service information on their website the Metropolitan Transit System.

The day after Thanksgiving, on Friday, Nov. 29, operations will return to normal with all Trolley and MTS urban, and local bus routes adhering to their typical weekday schedules. Support services such as MTS Information and Trip Planning, PRONTO Support Center, and Customer Service offices will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, with certain offices like MTS Information and Trip Planning and PRONTO Support Center, operating with modified hours today. All services are set to resume their regular hours on Friday.
