In a display of holiday spirit and volunteerism, San Diego teens are poised to make this season a little brighter for the less fortunate with a record-breaking donation event on December 7. Aiming to distribute more than 21,000 shoes to underserved women and children, the Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC) partners with local female-founded footwear brand Jellypop for what they hope will be a memorable and inspiring day. PR Newswire reports the ambitious giveaway is scheduled from 8 AM to 2 PM at Sharp Healthcare Spectrum Center, and it's not just about the goods.
Set to unfold at the Sharp Healthcare Spectrum Center's Kearny Mesa location, Sharp's own Chief Development Officer Christina Jordan conveyed excitement about joining hands with YPC. "The Foundations of Sharp HealthCare are thrilled to collaborate with the Youth Philanthropy Council for this event," she said, as per PR Newswire, highlighting a shared commitment to positively impacting the local community and supporting families in need. The teens behind YPC, meanwhile, continue their quest for additional volunteers and donations to amplify their year-end charity milestone.
It's not only footwear that's set to flood the lives of those in need courtesy of the YPC and Jellypop collaboration, as they've gathered upwards of 7,000 toys to hand out as well; this marks the third year the shoe giveaway has taken the stage. As detailed in an Instagram post from the Youth Philanthropy Council, all volunteers participating in the event will be eligible for a personal certificate recognizing their participation in setting a new Guinness World Record, adding an extra incentive for youth and community members to pitch in.
