San Francisco Police Department officers made a significant arrest last Saturday, capping off a prolonged investigation that led them to 36-year-old John Moye, a wanted suspect found in possession of a loaded 'ghost gun' and several illegal items, the SFPD reported in a news release. According to the San Francisco Police Department, Moye, who had been actively dodging two outstanding felony warrants, was also found idling in a stolen vehicle near the 200 block of Hyde Street, prior intelligence having placed him in that vicinity.
Diligent surveillance and a coordinated response allowed officers from the Tenderloin Station to eventually spot and cautiously approach the parked motorcycle and vehicle associated with Moye. Their suspicions seemed to immediately drive them to believe a firearm could be present in the vehicle. As a result, both Moye and an accompanying male subject were detained, ultimately confirming their hunch with the retrieval of an untraceable firearm, a 'ghost gun'.
Upon his apprehension, he was also charged with false impersonation, identity theft, and possession of burglary tools, among other infractions. His vehicle not only turned out to be reported stolen but was also a central piece in the web of his alleged criminal activities.
As the case unfolds, the San Francisco Police Department will likely continue unraveling details and actively seek the public's assistance. Those with valuable information can contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411, starting the message with 'SFPD'.
