San Francisco police have arrested a man suspected of stealing valuable medical equipment from a vehicle last month. The suspect, 53-year-old James Peros, was found with the stolen items in a truck after the victim traced the property through a GPS tracker. The San Francisco Police Department reported that Peros was detained and booked on felony charges.
An SFPD statement highlighted the sequence of events, noting that last Thursday, around 3:20 p.m., officers arrived at the 800 block of Pacific Ave. to confront the suspect. The GPS tracker had led the victim directly to the stolen items, which were located inside a parked truck. Upon inspection, the officers immediately made contact and discovered the reported stolen goods alongside the suspect, who had an outstanding warrant for a previous burglary.
The burglary had initially occurred on November 15, and the stolen property included luggage and a duffle bag full of medical equipment. Peros, identified during the arrest, was also wanted for a commercial office burglary on October 13. The suspect is now facing charges of second-degree burglary, grand theft, and possession of Methamphetamine.
As the SFPD continues its investigations, the public is urged to provide any relevant information. Concerned parties can contact the SFPD at 1-415-575-4444 or by texting TIP411, starting the message with SFPD.
