
San José Police Department has recently taken 28-year-old Andy Luong into custody on suspicion of arson. The alleged incident occurred on the evening of October 7 at a local business located at the 1800 block of Hillsdale Avenue. According to reports, Luong is accused of entering the establishment and setting fire to a box containing an electric scooter, followed by fleeing the scene before authorities arrived.
The department's Organized Retail Theft Detail took the lead on the investigation, tirelessly working to unravel what had seemingly abruptly occurred that night quickly. Through their diligent efforts, Luong was identified as the prime suspect. Additionally, it was uncovered during the investigation that Luong was allegedly involved in a previous theft at the same business.
On October 10, Luong was spotted by Patrol Officers and subsequently apprehended. He has since been booked at the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges related to the arson incident. In a public announcement shared by the San José Police Department, they encourage anyone with more information about the case to come forward.
