Residents of San Leandro's Washington Manor neighborhood had a brush with wildlife yesterday when a young coyote was spotted roaming the suburban stretch, causing a stir amongst locals. The San Leandro Police Department (SLPD) confirmed they received calls about the coyote sighting near Bethany Street and Drake Avenue at approximately 4:10 pm. Officers arrived in the area but found the coyote too elusive to capture.
According to the San Leandro Police Department, the Department of Fish and Game has recommended a hands-off approach, advising residents to let the animal find its way back to nature on its terms.
While the SLPD officers continue their vigilance around the Manor, the advice handed down to the community is crystal clear: do not engage with the coyote and keep those pooches on a tight leash.
